Biography
Regine married SFC Frederick Edward Pommer January 20, 1982 (Courthouse) and January 23,1982 (Church).
She soon realized as the spouse of a senior enlisted her responsibilities to the Army family members of her husband assigned unit were an unwritten rule throughout the service. Army family meant just what it described, helping and guiding younger service family members through difficult times, mainly training and deployment.
Regine was born August 16, 1954, in Berlin-Steglitz, Germany. In 1961 at the age of seven her family moved to Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt, West Germany. After Highschool, she trained three years in Frankfurt at Rosenberg & Lehnhardt to become a furrier. A summer job for a magazine geared towards the fur industry in Frankfurt turned into an exciting trip to New York City. Assigned with a mission to secure a photo fit as magazine cover and commissioning advertisement ads to be run in magazine.
When she married in1982 she worked for a British Quantity Surveyor firm who mainly built schools and Embassies in South America. After transferring to Fort McPherson, Georgia in 1982 she applied for a Green Card and soon was employed by a German wine importer in Atlanta. She also continued her unofficial duties with the family members and civilian employes of her husband’s office.
After transferring to 17th Area Support Group, Japan assisting family members with culture differences was easier having just experienced herself in Atanta. In addition, she was able to find a job working as a secretary for the CW3 officer in charge of the Club System in Japan. Another rewarding experience she had was teaching conversational English and German to Japanese students in her home.
Returning stateside and stationed at Ft. Dix, NJ for the next 2 years, she worked as a secretary at Atkinson in Moorestown, NJ. While her husband was assigned the Public Affairs Office NCOIC.
During Desert Shield her husband was tasked to help form the 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for deployment. Soldiers and family members arrived from around the world and the 19-man unit quickly formed and deployed for Desert Storm. As the senior enlisted spouse responsibilities grew over the seven-month deployment.
July 10, 1992, Regine became a U.S. citizen at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Her husband retired February 1,1994 from the U.S. Army moving to Port Charlotte Florida to join his wife and starting their new careers as Realtors. After 30 years they both retired to Greensboro, North Carolina on March 1, 2024.
