Biography
John Washington King, Jr. a Greensboro native, graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland in 1937. He was designated a Naval aviator in 1941.King was lost on August 15, 1942, possibly while piloting an aircraft for Scouting Squadron (VS) 72 aboard USS Wasp (CV 7), in Battle of Solomon Island.
He was declared dead on 4 December 1945.
King is buried or memorialized at Tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
