Biography

Shube Samuel Clark was born in Randolph County in 1921. He grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Sumner School.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Metalsmith First Class performing advanced metalworking, welding, and fabrication duties. He served the U.S.S. Hogan, a mine-sweeper and patrol ship, which was awarded battle stars for service in World War II.

After his Navy, service Clark returned to Greensboro, where he founded and served as President of Clark Building Company. He also was a member of the Hamilton Lakes and Gibsonville Lions Clubs where he was on the Board and managed the annual Horse Show, a 20-year member of Guilford College Civitan's where he also managed their annual Horse Show. Shube was also a member of the Sumner Civitan's having served on all committees, and actively participated in the turkey shoots and ball programs. He was a past President and 50 year member of the Piedmont Saddle Club, past President of the NCQHA, and a member of the AQHA and the National Wildlife Association.

Until his retirement, Shube was an active member of Home Builders, nationally and serving as past President of the Greensboro Chapter. He was a long standing active member of Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Shube died in Pleasant Garden in 2015.
