Biography
Paul C. Allred devoted nearly three decades of his life to military service.
Born in 1916, Paul entered the United States Army on April 11, 1934, embarking on a long and distinguished career. Trained as a surveyor, he served in both infantry and artillery units, where his technical expertise and steady command were essential to successful operations in Europe during the Second World War and later in Korea.
During World War II, he participated in some of the most significant campaigns of the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. His service was marked by courage and competence under fire, earning him multiple commendations.
Following the Allied victory, Allred continued to serve with distinction in the Korean War, contributing his surveying and command expertise to complex field operations during that challenging conflict. His further awards included the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
After nearly thirty years in uniform, Paul retired from the U.S. Army in 1962. He brought his discipline and technical skills into civilian life, working as a surveyor for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Greensboro, where he served the State until his retirement around 1977.
Paul was married to Frances Allred, with whom he shared a life of devotion and community service. He passed away in 1979.
