Biography
Marine Corps League Greater Greensboro Detachment #260 was founded in September 1972 by 32 charter members. In 2005 it was the nicknamed “The Fighting 260” because it has members who have served in every conflict since WWII.
The detachment contributes to many programs supporting veterans and the local community, including the Servant Center in Greensboro, providing “Welcome Home Baskets” and mattresses for veterans moving into new housing, and scholarships for veterans with PTSD via organizations like Horsepower Therapeutic Learning Center in High Point. The detachment also contributed to the renovation of the Guilford County Veterans memorial.
Each year, The Fighting 260 hosts a military charity golf tournament.
