Biography
Mr. Maiden was born October 31, 1924, in Guilford County, the third child of nine children.
He was a graduate of Summerfield High School and the Kenan Flagler School of Business Executive Program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army Battery C, 112th Gun Battalion. He attained the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in December 1945.
Mr. Maiden was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church for 55 years. During this time he served as chairman of the building committees for the sanctuary, the first educational building and the parsonage. His commitment to his church led him to serve as Administrative Board chairman, church laid leader, president of XYZ's and Methodist Men where he received Life membership and honored as Methodist Man of the year 1979. He was a member of the Marion Workman Sunday School Class. Through his leadership the Mount Pisgah Cemetery Committee was created and an endowment fund established. He was honored as Chairman Emeritus.
He served his community in many capacities , he was past president of the North Carolina Credit Union League 1955-56. He was a member of The Elks Lodge #602 and the Gideon's. Mr. Maiden retired from Carolina Steel Corporation after 44 years of service. He retired as sales manager.
